P5W DH Deluxe + JMicron Controller + IDE DVD RW Drive = Possible?

Hello,

I finally put together my first hackintosh, using parts my wife bought me for christmas using some of the guides I found online. I've gotten the video drivers for my NVidia 9400GT and the onboard sound working for my P5W DH Deluxe motherboard working, but what I can't seem to figure out is how to get my DVD RW Drive working!

I've established that it's an IDE Drive connected to the JMicron controller, and reading through the forums, I can see that JMicron needs some real fiddling to make it work, but I haven't been able to do it yet.

I used this disc:

XxX 10.5.6 Leo Install Disc Rev1 - Hackintosh OS X Leopard

I also tried this: JMicronATA.kext

But no luck. Aside from the DVD issue I love my new hackintosh. If anyone could help me out to get my system 100% perfect, I'd be very appreciative!

Did u make sure jmicron is turned on at the bios? My p5w had it default off. Is the computer dual boot? see if even windows sees it. big help. why dont u just buy a sata drive? one ide for best booting drive, sata for better speed all around. I know $$ isn't an option for most people. Yet an easy fix.

I had the same problem with an ide dvd drive on the JMicron controller on the Gigabyte ga-965p-ds3p but during installation.

To make it work I had to set up the JMicron controller in the BIOS to work on IDE (no AHCI or anything else). Obviously I tried to make sure the HDDs were connected to the other controller so that I could use the AHCI setting for them instead.
