I recently did a brand new retail install (10.5.4) from the guide here. Long story short, my biggest problem is that while I initially had QE working fine with EFI strings, installing the kexts provided in the guide broke the QE, saying it wasn't supported.

About 15 installs later, I've installed all but 5 of the kexts. Everything seems to be working great, including QE. It feels like a fast, smooth, stable system. But I'm curious if I'm going to run into any problems if I ignore these 5 kexts. Can anyone provide me with any input or advice? They are:

ACPIPS2Nub.kext

AppleAC97Audio.kext

AppleACPIPlatform.kext

AppleAHCIPort.kext

AppleAPIC.kext

My thought is that AppleACPIPlatform.kext was breaking my QE. I previously tried installing the others without it, but PS2Nub and AC97 seem to have a dependency on it. When I installed AHCIPort and APIC, I got the 16384 buffer headers error.

ANY input is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!
