Jokerchris
Hi My HackMac is working really good but i have a Problem with ma TSSTCorp Sn-082H in my Zepto Laptop. It seems that it is connected on the IDE. I get this with Windows. LSPCI gives me that: 00:00.0 Host bridge [0600]: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 Memory Controller Hub [8086:2a00] (rev 03) 00:01.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 PCI Express Root Port [8086:2a01] (rev 03) 00:1a.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 [8086:2834] (rev 03) 00:1a.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #5 [8086:2835] (rev 03) 00:1a.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #2 [8086:283a] (rev 03) 00:1b.0 Audio device [0403]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) HD Audio Controller [8086:284b] (rev 03) 00:1c.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 1 [8086:283f] (rev 03) 00:1c.1 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 2 [8086:2841] (rev 03) 00:1c.2 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 3 [8086:2843] (rev 03) 00:1c.3 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) PCI Express Port 4 [8086:2845] (rev 03) 00:1d.0 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 [8086:2830] (rev 03) 00:1d.1 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 [8086:2831] (rev 03) 00:1d.2 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 [8086:2832] (rev 03) 00:1d.7 USB Controller [0c03]: Intel Corporation 82801H (ICH8 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller #1 [8086:2836] (rev 03) 00:1e.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge [8086:2448] (rev f3) 00:1f.0 ISA bridge [0601]: Intel Corporation 82801HEM (ICH8M) LPC Interface Controller [8086:2815] (rev 03) 00:1f.1 IDE interface [0101]: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) IDE Controller [8086:2850] (rev 03) 00:1f.2 SATA controller [0106]: Intel Corporation 82801HBM/HEM (ICH8M/ICH8M-E) SATA AHCI Controller [8086:2829] (rev 03) The newest Firmware is installed. thorazine74
I thought it should work with that one, maybe you have some other kext installed thats taking over that IDE controller? Check the list of loaded extensions in System Profiler or post a copy of your ioreg_sp.txt file (from System Profile - Software - Logs). If you get the same resultts with Dune's kext and with vanilla kext I dont have any clue what could be causing that and I know of no other kext that you could use, sorry I cant be of much help... Do you have any BIOS options for changing SATA modes (native / legacy)? Just a guess but maybe affects channel detection... Also I notice the lspci dump lists the SATA ports working in AHCI mode but the ioreg dump as working in IDE mode? Is that right or you changed modes between both dumps? thorazine74
What OS X version are you running? This is IOATAFamily v2.0.0 from 10.5.6: IOATAFamily.kext.v2.0.0.Vanilla.10.5.6.zip It has both your SATA & PATA controllers device ids, it seems some real Mac have exactly the same hardware as yours. What BIOS options do you have? Does it happen the same way in AHCI mode? It should have no effect but you could try just in case... How does the drive show up in Windows Device Manager? It seems the secondary channel is malfunctioning, disabled or not working according to OS X so if the drive is connected to that one chances are it wont be detected. I'm not sure if you can in a laptop but changing drive setup (secondary to primary) could help. Jokerchris
So theres no change when i install the original kext... In the BIOS i only have two options that is related to the DVD i think: 1. Local BUS IDE Adapter: Disabled / Primary / Secondary / Both 2. Large Disk Access Mode: Other / DOS I have tried every combination. Nothing helps... But when i select the Local Bus IDE Adapter as Secondary than theres no DVD in Windows but in the Systemprofiler theres an ATA Device with nothing inside... With the other Options theres no ATA Device detected. thorazine74
img{-moz-force-broken-image-icon:1;} Both kexts are mostly the same so its no surprise it doesnt work either. You can check in Windows in the device manager, show select devices by connection and show the properties of each Primary and Secondary IDE channel hanging from the IDE controller (I'll post a screenshot when I reboot into Windows). Also some BIOS list all the connected IDE devices ordered by channels, look there if the DVD drive show up as Primary Master or Secondary Master. I'm guessing that option in your BIOS just enables or disables the channels but I dont know why making them both enable makes your drive disappear, disabling the channels should not have an effect if there is no device. Do you have some SATA option labeled like SATA Legacy/Native Mode or similar? EDIT: here is the screenshot in Vista, XP has a different layout but its the same. You should be able to see it in the BIOS anyway...
