mechdrew
Hi, I'm running 10.4.5 and while most of my other programs work fine I can't run these two apps. Photo Booth loads but doesn't bring up a window unless a camera isn't attached, then it will just tell me so and quit. DVD Player simply crashes after about three seconds. I have a SSE3 enabled CPU so I don't think that is the problem. I think this may have something to do with Quartz Extreme (I'm using an Nvidia card) but I've not been able to find a clear answer. I was also wondering about any hacks/patches that would allow these to work, whatever the problem is. Thanks for any help! Krazubu
It's normal for photo booth, btw what do you want to do with it if you don't have a cam ? My DVD player works perfectly but I have CI and QE, you could try the beta drivers for nVidia which are available at the moment or wait a little they are more advanced. mechdrew
I do have a camera. I've tried several, only two work: A Sony Hi8 camcorder plugged into the firewire port, and a no name webcam, the latter needing the macam driver. I've tried the camcorder with and without the driver, no difference. The reason why I mentioned the error message is to show that the program is responsive in a way, it just doesn't do anything useful, like take pictures. All I get with a camera plugged in is the menu bar at the top with most of the controls greyed out. And the Macvidia drivers won't have Quartz Extreme or Core Image support until a later release. Can anyone provide a definitive answer as to what is causing this problem? mechdrew
Okay, just read through a bunch of Macvidia driver posts, I'm still not one hundred percent positive but it looks like the QE is the problem for DVD Player. Still nothing about Photo Booth, though. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15287-photo-booth-and-dvd-player/#findComment-98093 Share on other sites
