irongiant
hi how is every one doing i've for the longest have been trying to install osx86 on my rig but my dvd wont boot correctly whnen i press F8 for booting options the disc jus restarts not displaying any errors or any thing like that.. i have been reaserching and i found some topics talking about moded bios but i cant find those either, if some one can help me i can try and myod my own. i really want this to work for my studio p5q-se2 2 gig ram (xms2) 2 harddrives ide dvd rom drive 8800gt evga e6300 1.8 ghz duo Ok i just bought Asus p5q se after putting everthing toguether i will not get any post bios, i thought the cpu or the motherboard were bad so i did a little diggin arount, first i had 4 gb ram the mobo supports up to 16gb i found on a forum somewhere that some memory wont work on this mobo even thought it suport it, so i did was sugested, removed all memory except one b1 and i had bios i add it another to b2 and still working when i add it all 4 no go, well i left the 2 for now, ok so your problem with the dvd restarting, the same problem happend to me, with ipc distro, dvd, so i had a few distros that i have been playing with, i took that dvd out put in ideneb dvd in and presto, it boots into the installation, so my sugestion, if this your only pc, put in windows for the time being, go and download ideneb and iatkos and have them both i have notice some distros will work on some mobos but not all. Good Luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152861-asus-p5q-se2-dvd-not-booting-bios-mod/#findComment-1242176 Share on other sites
jasbo
I am running the same motherboard as you. I read a lot of forums and it turns out the SE2 is one of the only models that nobody has created a MOD for. I was able to install using Iatkos v7 with the default Bios settings. I think the only thing i changed was sata configuration . AHCI. if i were you, i would see if i could find a different ISO. I was running into a problem similar to urs and it turned out the media was bad. (i really dont think the BIOS mod is your problem what BIOS version are you running) my installation is not stable however becuase of my GPU...nvidia gtx 280oc 1024 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152861-asus-p5q-se2-dvd-not-booting-bios-mod/#findComment-1350966 Share on other sites

Tried iAtkos v7: didn't work even with the AHCI SATA configuration. I'm downloading iDeneb 1.6 and Iatkos v5 right now, hope these two will work. Just hope that this is just a bad ISO, or else I just have to wait for the modded BIOS. In the case of my motherboard (ASUS pq5 se2), nothing is still available. agentjonsay
I remember reading somewhere that you need to have a sata DVD Drive. That may be your problem. I have the p5q-se2 also and when i had an IDE DVD drive, it just didnt work for me. I was able to go up to the installation point for iDeneb 1.5 but i couldnt find any harddrives to install to because they werent formatted correctly. Im going to try out iatkos sometime this week, i'll reply if it works. Wish me luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152861-asus-p5q-se2-dvd-not-booting-bios-mod/#findComment-1382115 Share on other sites
