leminz
Hello It has been a while since i have posted anything on this site, as I have gotten my Dell Vostro 1500 (GMA X3100 graphics card) to run quite perfectly 99% and that is great considering many many people couldnt get this card to work. Getting 10.5.3 to run as well as it does on this laptop was QUITE the hassle, but it was worth it as i eventually got EVERYTHING working (well, except for sleep. but seriously, everything else!) the reason i point this out is that the GMA X3100 was being a real grump, and involved a rigorous process (which i am not even sure that i remember fully at this point) of installing 10.5.2, installing a graphics update that was ONLY for 10.5.2, installing all sorts of various kexts, using the Sleep Screen option in Exposé, and then using 10.5.3 Kalyway Combo Update. NOW FOR THE TASK AT HAND!! i have all of this stuff on my computer ( i will post specs below ) and it is running great, but it is time for an upgrade. i need 10.5.6, and i am baffled at how to do this without losing my systems compatibility with GMA X3100 (or most other things for that matter) or just completely erasing all of my personal data. NOW i am very open to suggestions, i have external hard drives and i know how to reinstall my backups and darwin bootloader from the osx86 DVD, whatever distrobution that may be. SO im not afraid to skrew up and try all over again. im very used to that. is there any type of ComboUpdate package that i could use? any way to install a clean version of 10 5 6 and then bringing my old files and settings back? any help would be greatly appreciated! -Miles Model Name: Mac Pro Model Identifier: MacPro3,1 Processor Name: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T5270 @ Processor Speed: 1.4 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 CPU Features: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM SSE3 MON DSCPL EST TM2 SSSE3 CX16 TPR PDCM Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 800 MHz L2 Cache: 2 MB Intel GMA X3100: Chipset Model: GMA X3100 Type: Display Bus: Built-In VRAM (Total): 144 MB Vendor: Intel (0x8086) Device ID: 0x2a02 Revision ID: 0x000c Displays: Display: Resolution: 1280 x 800 Depth: 32-bit Color Built-In: Yes Core Image: Hardware Accelerated Main Display: Yes Mirror: Off Online: Yes Quartz Extreme: Supported Display Connector: Status: No display connected Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/152608-help-me-upgrade-my-system-1053-1056/ Share on other sites
