Apple is releasing what its called "Universal Binary" programs, which are supposed to be run natively on both PowerPC mac and Intel Mac.

The funny thing is... they cannot be run in both.

Let me explain...

This is my configuration:

AsRock 775i65GV (everything works without a hitch)

Celeron D 336J (runs natively)

OS X Tiger 10.4.5 with maxxuss patch (actually, only SSE3 patch applied)

on my configuration, which supports both PowerPC (through Rosetta) and (of course) Intel, those kind of binaries won't work.

Everytime I try to run one of these, the shell gives me the message

"Bad Executable or shared library"

I've tried everything, including repairing permissions and booting in safe mode and as administrator, but nothing.

Everything else works perfectly out of the box, including the Intel Extreme Graphics 2 (OpenGL and Quartz Extreme enabled).

Any ideas?

Maybe rosetta needs to be patched?

Rosetta won't work on a non-SSE3 processor. There is no patch to make it work, as it's required for the emulator to run at all.

That's not entirely accurate luckyy.

What's going on here I suspect is the Maxxuss SSE2 patch you applied is failing to translate the requests from some of the applications you are trying to run.

I hate to burst your bubble Don Luca, but the problem isn't the Apple Apps, it's your configuration. Maybe try on another PC with SSE3?

I tried also on my notebook (Pentium M with SSE3) and I have the same problem...

but i think i figured out what's wrong...

My DVD is Marklar-Tiger.iso which appears to be 10.4.1 ...

So, i have to get the last version (10.4.6) and try again...

However is strange, because 10.4.1 supoprts universal binaries...
