First of all i would like to start by saying that i am still fairly a newbie and any questions you have, I may or may not be able to answer your questions. I am writing this guide because it worked for me.

My Guide is based on the following hardware.

Asus P5Q-Pro Motherboard

Intel Core2Duo E8400 (3 GHz)

Gigabyte Nvidia Geforce 9600GT 1GB Silent

iPC OSx86 Universal 10.5.6

1. Preparing to install. (Bios Flashing and Bios Settings)

- Download Bios Rom file for P5Q-Pro from here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=42918

- Other P5Q Series ROMs and instructions on flashing the bios are available from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=136586

- Once the bios is flashed you will need to modify a few settings.

- First Change IDE Mode to AHCI, Detect Timeout 0

- Go to the advanced tab,

- Under CPU Configuration Disable Intel Speed Step and C1E

- Under Onboard Devices change front side audio to AC97 and disable Marvell IDE if you dont need it, if you do then there is a kext for it later.

- Under PCiPNP change option to YES

- Thats it now we can move on to installing iPC OSx86 Universal 10.5.6 (Goes without saying you should have this downloaded by now.)

- Boot from CD-ROM

- Select English, then click on Disk Utilities.

- Go to the Erase TAB, name your HDD: Macintosh HD and click on Erase.

- close disk utility

- Click on Next, next until you see CUSTOMISE on your bottom left.

- http://######.com/ipcosx86/?page_id=96 is what you should see.

- Please use above link as a guide, i am going to tell you exactly what boxes i checked.

- iPC OSx86 10.5.6 Base System

- Drivers>Video Drivers>Nvidia>Macbook Pro Latest Nvidia Kexts (9xxx Series Support)

- Chipset Drivers>Intel ICH10 Sata Support

- Fixes and Patches>Shutdown/Restart Fix

- DSDT Patches>Patch DSDT

- Apple SMBIOS Patch>SMBIOS Resolver

- Applications> Efi Studio, OSX86 Tools, KextHelper, CPU-X

Thats it do not click on anything else. Unless you know what youre doing.

Installing more than one kext for the same feature will more than likely result in an installation faliure.

- Install OSX, Skip disk checking (Faster)

- Once installed open EFI Studio Choose GT8800 1GB for GFX Strings, and change the name to 9600GT

- Restart and you will have full Resolution with QE/CI

- http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=38399 Sound Drivers

- Use KextHelper to install, Restart and you will have sound.

- Lan does not work on this model you will need to buy a Realtek Lan Card.

- Marvel IDE Drivers http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=38401 , once again use kext helper.

Thats it you should now have a fully functional 10.5.6 System.

Please let me know if i have skipped anything.

Thanks for the tutorial ... as many people as I have heard used this motherboard for OS X, I was having trouble finding a clean cut guide like this. I just have one question ... I am having trouble getting an internet connection through the Ethernet connection. I know it has been said the wireless does not work as there is no driver, but does this mean there is not a fix for a hard line connection as well? Thanks for any response, I am a little new to this as well ... have done a ton of reading the past couple months and still feel like I haven't even cracked the surface yet.

Also have you come across any other issues so far since I see you have probably have this installed for a little while and if so what have you found works. Thanks again ... so far everything seems to run great - the loss of internet conncetion

Nice job..

I made it, just like you did with the following hardware:

-P5Q

-Intel Quad Code Q6600

-Nvidia 9800 GT

The problem is, (how could I explain it well - I'm french by the way) a huge graphic lag !

As I move a window it lets a "trail" or maybe is it a "drag" anyway.. Everything is absolutely not smooth and I never get how to obtains the ethernet drivers in order to connect to.. internet.

I also thought I would be able to find my wifi card (netgear 311v3) drivers but I now think it was more a dream than a think..

So do you think I missed something or ?

nice tut, i think it is pretty complete. i had to deal with that LAN {censored} as well and i got this onboard chip to work, so one can spare himself the additional card and save a precious PCI slot ;-)

just keep looking for a kext that goes by the name of AttansicL1eEthernet.kext .

this worked just fine for me, i installed it with kexthelper and had to load it manually ( sudo kextload ), but i think this was mainly because i pre-installed the AttansicL1Ethernet ( without the 'e' ) that came with iDeneb 1.4, and that kext doesn´t work...

Intel Q8400

MSI 9800GT 512MB

got the sound and video working

had some issues with my IDE DVD drive showing up, but its workin now

haven't messed with getting the ethernet working

only thing left that is vital is getting my D-Link WDA-1320 wireless PCI adapter working
