torbengb
I'm looking for help with getting my sound card working under OS X. I have recently installed iPC_OSx86_10_5_6_Universal_PPF5_Final as my first attempt at Mac OS X on a pc. The installation went pretty smoothly but the sound card is just not there. I even installed from scratch several times with different sound options (notably AC97) but didn't get any sound going. I've tried installing the AppleAC97Audio.kext using KextHelper but after reboot OS X still indicates no sound output device. I've searched various forums and whatever Google found, but most information seems outdated because it applies to 10.5.2. Can it be that my sound card simply is not supported and I need to buy a different one? Details: The sound is integrated on the motherboard. The Windows app "Everest" identifies the sound card as VIA VT8237A/8251 High Definition Audio Controller but I'm surprised that "dxdiag" identifies it as Realtek HD Audio output, so I can't really tell whether it is VIA or Realtek. Also, dxdiag states VendorID=10EC and DeviceID=0888, but during boot the computer states VendorID=1106 and DeviceID=3288. I have no experience with OS X so I feel rather lost at the moment. Please ask if you need more details because I do have detailed information about my hardware, at least. Edit: Network problem solved (itself).
