anomie
Interested in this laptop: http://www.dell.com/content/products/produ...;l=en&s=dhs It's about half the cost of a 17" MacBook Pro with similar specs, but it also has a built in Blu-Ray player. Main difference is a slightly weaker ATI graphics card (Radeon Mobility 3670 512 MB). Should it run OS X smoothly or are there any known problems with this model or any of the hardware listed below? I'd prefer not paying more for much less (MacBook/MBPro) just so I can run OS X. Tired of Windows after having used Vista and running 7 since public beta, similar annoying problems from Vista still there Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo P8600 (2.4GHz/1066MHz FSB/3M L2Cache) Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo T9400 (2.53GHz/1066MHz FSB/6M L2Cache) Up to 8GB 1067MHz DDR3 SDRAM Intel® PM45 with Centrino® 2 ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3670-512MB Edge-to-edge Glossy 16 inch Full HD RGB-LED LCD display (1080p) Up to 500GB3 7200RPM Hard Drive 4X Blu-ray Disc Slot-load Combo Drive (DVD/CD+/-RW + BD Read) 2.0MP Integrated Webcam Dual Digital Array Microphones Wi-Fi Options: Dell 1515 Wireless N Mini-Card Intel® 5100 Wireless N Half Mini-Card Intel® 5300 Wireless N Half Mini-Card Mobile Broadband: Dell Wireless 5530 Mini-Card for AT&TTM Dell Wireless 5720s Mini-Card for SprintTM Dell Wireless 5720v Mini-Card for VerizonTM Bluetooth Options: Bluetooth® Internal (2.0) mini-card- Standard Ports, Slots, Chassis Externally Accessible (2) USB 2.0 compliant ports (1) USB 2.0 compliant / e-SATA port with PowerShare 15-pin VGA video connector IEEE compliant 1394a port Integrated network connector 10/100/1000 LAN (RJ45) 54mm Express Card slot Display Port HDMI Port AC adapter connector Audio jacks (2 line-out, 1 Mic-in) 8-in-1 Media Card Reader Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/151805-hackintosh-on-new-dell-xps-studio-16/ Share on other sites

anomie
Thanks. Too many problems there. Guess I'll just wait for the next MacBook refreshes that should hopefully occur in the next 2-3 months. Assuming they add a Blu-Ray option and hopefully better mini-Display adapters. John LeBaron
You might want to try the 17 Vostro. These specs might be better for a Hackintosh and the Vostro is a great computer with a beautiful screen (I think same as the XPS 16 but bigger). http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/con...cwd3z&s=bsd Best, John LeBaron Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/151805-hackintosh-on-new-dell-xps-studio-16/#findComment-1230774 Share on other sites
