SenorJules
The HP Mini 2140 has finally arrived, in my first attempts of installing OSX86 I came across several problems. I used the install method used for the HP Mini 1000 with iDeneb, first the screen resolution made it impossible to see what I was doing, then the keyboard and mouse wouldn't function and as a result I had to plug it into a monitor mouse and keyboard. After the installation process completed, mac os x booted up without a problem tho nothing worked, I went ahead an installed the kext provided by the wonderful folks who cracked the HP Mini 1000 osx86 project, this let to a kernal panic and much more fustration. I'd like to get the ball rolling by asking if anyone else is onboard at making osx86 run on the hp mini 2140. Sergeant Brain
I had some trouble on my Sony Vaio (I know it's a different laptop) where I lost my mouse and keyboard. I downloaded iPC 10.5.6 and ran the AppleSMBIOSmacbook (I don't think that's exactly what it's called) and it seemed to not only fix the problem but it gave me trackpad options in the System Prefs. CharlieM
After messing around with another drive on my laptop, I found out the best way is to use Kalyway 10.5.1 for the main installation. Afterwards use iPC 10.5.6 but DO NOT install the base system in iPC 10.5.6, only AppleSMBIOS Mac Book Rev 6. I have tried several versions of the 10.5.2, 10.5.5, 10.5.6 using an USB mouse and attaching an LG external screen. In all cases I have a problem with the graphics on the screen. The 576 vertical resolution precludes you from seeing the "buttons" at the bottom of the screen. I cant customize nor get past this screen. What's the trick for getting past this point on the 2140 (The HP 6510b was not a problem). Are there keyboard shortcuts to access the buttons? AwayTeam
I received my HP2140 with HD 1366x768 last week and immediately installed OSX86. Based on iDeneb 1.4, the computer is very usable. All that I still need to fix is the built-in microphone, and the line jacks. I guess most people had problems with the Trackpad and the fact that touching it would kill the keyboard. The "VoodopPS2Controller-0.98" fixes this problem. Google it and you will find the installer Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/151746-osx86-on-hp-mini-2140/#findComment-1168977 Share on other sites

Are there keyboard shortcuts to access the buttons? you'll need an external monitor. as the system boots up, and while still in text mode (Darwin blah blah), switch the notebook to external-monitor-mode (Fn-F2). the system will detect the monitor and boot OSX (setup) to 1024x768 whereby you can see all the buttons. that said, dont bother trying until you've found the solution to the keyboard/mouse problem, otherwise all is moot.
