So, i had Tiger in my old computer some time ago, but now I'm buying a new pc and i'm really looking forward to install leopard on it, except i don't know what to do!

I've been reading the forums for a couple of days, and there's so little information on my motherboard of choice that i'm almost giving up.

Those are my specs to come:

ECS P45T-A (if possible to install and use RAID, else i'm getting a P5K)

Core 2 Duo E8400

2 GB Corsair DDR2800

Seagate 500GB x2 (RAID0 if possible)

and a 8500GT 512MB for now.

so, I need to know if this motherboard is OSX86 compatible and if i will be able to use RAID, and if possible, how could i install using a retail disk, which i own.

thank you for your help.

cheers

EDIT: after reading some more today, i decided that my preffered install method is boot132 + retail dvd, so all i need to know is what are the essential kexts for my system and if i can do raid.

I would not get your hopes up for the on-board fake raid. There are a few hardware TRUE raid controllers available but they are not cheap. You can set up a soft RAID in OSX and there are even methods for installing on to a soft RAID. I was hoping to set up a RAID disk so that OSX and Windows could use it for a scratch disk. Without a TRU raid controller you will be out of luck.

oh thats great, would i be able to do it using a p5k-se (which doesn't have onboard raid)?

Yeah its through the OS.

A lot of people think that onboard RAID is a true hardware RAID controller but most are actually just software running from the motherboard which dumps all of the work on to your CPU. A true hardware RAID controller does all the processing on-board. I have heard of these being built on to motherboards but only are high end server mobos.

oh good. do i need any additional apps or it's already included in osx retail?
