HackBook Pro
I've used custom (Kalyway, Leo4All, etc.) install discs to install OS X on my desktop. Today, I bought a retail copy of OS X to install on my desktop using boot-132. Thing is, I already have Windows Vista and Gentoo installed on it (which means my HDD is MBR not GUID). I made a 3rd partition for OS X to install onto. After I boot the Leopard DVD, should I just install it like normal? Will the boot loader that OS X installs mess anything up? Do I need to use boot-132 after the install to boot (the installed) OS X? After OS X gets installed, I was planning on installing Chameleon, then using GRUB to chainload it. Will this work? (It worked with the custom install DVDs). Thanks. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/151595-retail-os-x-boot-132-on-mbr-hdd/ Share on other sites
HackBook Pro
I searched the forum, and found that I might need to modify the retail DVD to allow it to install on MBR drives. Do I have to do this? Can I put the modified file into boot-132? I found this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=116505 I guess I need to modify the DVD. The setup has to be replaced. Then you can install on MBR. I would try to avoid that so you can use the original DVD without modification. Btw. you found the file in the thread.
