atwinda
This is my first purpose built osx86 install. I have a "media" computer based off an intel dg945cgnl that was an experiment for this new one. I chose the DG41TY because it allowed me to run more and faster ram than the 945cgnl, but at similar specs and similar price range. This isn't really a question thread- more or less an information thread, because I didn't turn up any results for this board previously. MB: Intel DG41TY Processor: Intel E6750 (on board video, lan (reltek 8111D, sound ALC888VC) Ram: Kingston VR DDR2 1.8v 800MHz 1GB sticks (4GB total) Video card: PNY 8500 Nvidia 512mb CD Drives: Liteon sata CD/DVD burner, Sony sata DVD drive Hard Drives: WD 160gb sata 3.0gb, WD 320 sata 3.0gb + internal USB card reader Information about this board is kinda hard to find on Intel's site. here is the link to a decent data sheet: http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/DG41TY/configs.htm I installed Ideneb v1.3 with vanilla kernel, nvidia inject 512mb, ALC888, intel chipset fix, plus the ideneb application list. Video works perfectly. No sound, and no LAN. Lan drivers can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/realtekr1000/ I installed the ktext out of the release folder. Sound has been the only issue. the ALC888 driver on the cd, did not do the trick, nor any solution i found on here. I don't know if it's because the VC variant or what. I can get two channel audio working from the azalinaaudio.pkg from http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=36520 which is ok with me. Now for the 10.5.6 update. The first attempt was failed. I just let the software update go, and it crashed somewhere around 60% install. upon restart i got a kernel panic. So I erased the drive and reinstalled 10.5.5. After reading on here a bit, and following the instructions from post #2 in this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=151119 The update from the Apple software updater worked like a champ. Everything seems to be as stable as it was in 10.5.5. I would love to get the audio working "better" but it's not totally necessary. Hope this helps out anyone looking for information on this MB. I suppose I should also add: I did have to install the CarbonFix under 10.5.5 but not under 10.5.6, nor did I have any seatbelt.ktext issues after the update Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/151469-intel-dg41ty-working-1056/ Share on other sites
mpir
Hello. I am pretty much coming with the same rigs as you, I have had a d945gccr mobo for the past two and a half years, and works pretty much out of the box with the iAtkos distro. So I looked around and the closest one I found was the dg41ty for a processor and memory upgrade. Thing is that I am having a real hard time to get it to install, both with iAtkos 10.5.5 or iDeneb 10.5.6, they freeze during installation, don't even get to customization. so I wonder if you can help me out, maybe you did some previous setup in the bios? or installed a different distro (am trying to get XxX 10.5.6 now, but I doubt it's going to be the solution). Well, thanks for your time, and hope you can give me some clues with this. jazzman746
Hi, im with dg41ty, everything seems to work but when i want to install parallels it says that can only be installed on machines that support software virtualization. Have you had this issue? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/151469-intel-dg41ty-working-1056/#findComment-1184151 Share on other sites
