If this hasn't been discussed, yet. Darwin 8.1 can be successfully booted on VirtualBox 2.0.2 with option "platform=x86pc" so long as the operating system is installed on VMWare. Once it's installed, the .VMDK can be imported into VirtualBox and a Virtual Machine can be created. Simply disable ACPI, mount the disk to IDE Master, set the network adapter to Intel PRO/1000 MT, and you're rolling. Boot time is about 12-15 seconds and it runs unbelivably smooth with 1GB of RAM on a T7500 with both CPUs.

I personally used a pre-created .VMDK from Deadmoo. It booted instantly with the above settings, Network recognized instantly. I can't get sound working, yet, and it currently only supports 4:5 resolutions. I'm trying to get AC97 going and widescreen going for VESA 2.0. I'll update you all on my progress and would be happy if anyone has any tips.
