techster82
I am planning to build a budget Hackintosh rig to replace a Mac Mini I have grown tired of. I have built quite a few PC's over the years but haven't gotten my hands "dirty" in some time, so thats the big draw in doing this. My blueprint starts with the Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3R board, and will probably go with an E5200 to get me started, and upgrade to a quad core somewhere down the road. One reason for this post is to let people know that newegg currently has this board on sale for $119.99 ($104.99 after rebate) with free shipping. The first priority of this build is the ability to boot from the retail Leopard DVD, have all options working as an official mac would, and be able to do software updates with no hiccups. Am I on the right track? I am reading quite a few threads and hope to take my time in doing this build correctly. Thanks in advance for any help. -Hackintosh noob http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16813128359 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/151445-ga-ep45-ud3r-at-neweggcom/ Share on other sites

MacUser2525
Hello Has anyone helped you on this im interested to know if you completed your build and if it worked? There are plenty of people using that board on here the search function may suck badly here but Google with site:insanelymac.com on the end of your terms should find you plenty of hits. Your going to find that you will need to screw around to get audio working so if you can find an old SB Live or Audigy card then you can use the kX driver that can be found here on the site for perfectly working 5.1 surrond sound if you want to use that. If you search on the DSDT.aml/ACPI patcher that you can get practically every other thing that are minor annoyances up to getting the full graphics support with the right card using the already mentioned DSDT.aml file that can be created from your BIOS for use with a patched Chameleon/EFI boot loader, this will also allow full updates straight from Apple using Software Update.
