rxmd
Hi, I'm having boot problems after natively installing OS X 10.4.5 from the Maxxuss DVD image on my Thinkpad X60s (code 1702-55G). My partitions are laid out like this (I created them using QT Parted from the SystemRescueCD Linux ISO image, then setting type AF and activating partition 3 from Windows XP diskpart): Partition 1: Primary, 40 GB NTFS with a Windows XP installation Partition 2: Primary, 10 GB FAT32 Partition 3: Primary, Active, 20 GB Mac HFS, type AF. Partition 4: Primary, 4 GB, IBM Recovery area. Install works smoothly and without problems, but on rebooting the BIOS says "Missing operating system". If I activate partition 1 instead and try to launch OS X from the NT boot loader using the Chain0 method, it just goes back straight into the NT boot loader again without booting from partition 3. If I boot from the Maxxuss DVD, the HFS partition is invisible and the normal install is the only option I get, so the partition 3 is just not seen by the Darwin boot loader. However, when I choose DIsk Utility in the installation menu, I see the volume just fine, everything is there, and it has the Bootable flag. Is this a known problem? How can I actually get partition 3 to boot? Can I expect this to be different if I install 10.4.3 from the 8f1111 image?
