Hello there,

I've been searching diligently for an answer to my problem to no avail, and I'm hoping someone can help me out.

I am running 10.5.5 on a Nvidia 8800GS with dual-dvi out to two dell displays. One display rotates fine (through Display in system preferences). When I set the other monitor to rotation, I get a hang. So I thought I'd change the setting manually through com.apple.windowserver.plist since I see others have had some success in changing resolution, etc by modifying this file.

I backed up and modified /Library/Preferences/com.apple.windowserver.plist using the Property List Editor

and also /Users/<myusername>/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.windowserver.<some number>.plist

I rebooted, and nothing changed. I looked at these files again in Property List editor, they had my edits to the resolution/rotation settings.

However it seems that OSX is ignoring these new files.

What gives? Are these cached somewhere? Is resolution/rotation coming from a different file?

Any insight you can lend would help me greatly.
