Before I start, I have to say that YES I have googled my ass off trying to fix this before I made the thread. Even though I'm new to the osX86 world I'm not a complete noob when it comes to computers, so I know my way around them. I've always wanted to mess around on a mac and see if it really was worth spending 3 times to cash for the same hardware in a computer with only the OS being diffrent.

I tried installing iAtkos v5i on my Acer Aspire 1700 and after 5 tries, I made it. I have every thing working exept 2 major things, the sound and the network.

Here's the deal, I tried plugging the computer to the router with a normal lan cable and it didn't pick it up. So I used a WiFi Max USB dongle and installed the Zydas utility on the mac. The utility found my wireless and it was showing about 70 signal strenght. I went on system preferences and the mac recognized the internet, I had an IP adress and DNS server and all those things. But when I start Safari or Firefox it just loads intill it tells me that I'm no connected to the internet. I thought I could survive without the internet, I have another computer next to it, I could just use my "mac" for audio and video editing and use my normal computer for surfing the web. I put some songs on a usb-stick and opened them in iTunes only to find out that there was no sound. I went on the system preferences and found out that the computer hasn't found a audio card, then it struck me, I had never heard the famous mac boot up sound. When I click the volume button I get a picture of a full volume bar with a crossed circle over the speaker.

I googled around to see how people have fixed there issues and I came accros alot of solutions only to find out that none of them worked.

I tried AppleHDA 1.20 but because I don't know what audio card I have in the computer it was hard to find the right dump file.

Then I tried kXAudioDriver and that didn't work. Then AzaliaAudio, nothing and then Envy24HT and still nothing. Then I was thinking logicly, so I went to Realteks homepage and downloaded the newest mac drivers and that didn't work either.

I don't know what audio card I have but I know it's realtek. And my ethernet port is a SiS 900-based fast ethernet port or something like that.

I'm running iAtkos on a Acer Apsire 1700 (think it's 1703m) with Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz single core, 512 ram and a crappy SiS motherboard with almost everything integrated. There is no info left about my computer on the web cuz it's 6 years old :D But it's still kickin' it :D

I would apretiate all the help I can get.

Were you able to get your Acer working? I have a 1700 as well and I've tried installing it with iAtkos, Kalyway, Jas and Leo4All. The furthest I've gotten in the install is with Jas where it will install all the way and then when it restarts, it just keeps restarting. What kexts in the iAtkos install did you use to get it to boot up? I'll look around for sound drivers as well...

Hi,

I have managed to succesfully install iPC 10.5.5 distribution.

Everithing works fine apart from the graphic card. It doesn't work on laptop display with 3D acceleration. Only vesa 3.0 mode is working.

You can get 3D acceleration only via external display connected to the vga port.

I've tried several drivers (kexts) without success and, because I don't want to use an external display, I use it with vesa mode. It's not so bad.

@RaGENISSE:

Did you manage to have the video card working with 3D acceleration?
