Hello,

I have a weird issue. My display has decided that it does not like to stay asleep. It will go to sleep fine, and stay asleep for a little while, but after a certain amount of time (seems random) it will wake itself up.

I did not have this problem a few weeks ago. I think it may be related to the last round of updates I did (including Quicktime 7.6). Has anyone else noticed this happening?

Note that my computer is set to never sleep, only the display. Screen saver does not seem to matter, whether it is on or off, the display will sleep only to wake up again after a few minutes.

Thanks if anyone has a suggestion for how to fix this.

Running 10.5.6 retail, specs in signature.

I found a post on Macrumors from a user who had the same problem. They said that is was caused by having Screen Sharing enabled, that whenever any traffic came across their open screen sharing port (5900) it would wake their display. They said it could be anything from a ping to a ssh connection, etc.

This sounds like it might be my problem as well... but I'm bummed if I have to turn off Screen Sharing just to get my display to stay asleep. I'm going to do some testing but if anyone has any suggestions (other than "turn off your monitor") I'd appreciate it :(
