peteb
Hi there ! I need your help very much, please read this... My specs are: Pentium D 820 2.8Ghz and asus p5ld2 board with Intel945P chipset. Ive been trying to run osx86 Tiger 10.4.3 from marklar-tiger iso on my SATA Samsung 200GB drive (with XP already running on C: (20gb) and D: for the rest of the amount of space) after booting this image from dvd I tried to enter the disk utility menu from the installation panel to do partitions... but it doesnt see any hard drives at all... Ive got my BIOS set up to IDE enhanced mode with S-ATA. what is the reason ? should I install 10.4.3 build 8F1111A to get things working ? can you please help me? best regards peter Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15104-sata-hard-drive-problem-in-1043/ Share on other sites

Electric
OSX probably cant read your hard drive because its SATA - do you have an nForce4 chipset? If so, its not possible just yet - If you have a spare IDE hard drive lying around, I'd suggest installing to that - it will save you alot of hassle for nothing Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15104-sata-hard-drive-problem-in-1043/#findComment-98270 Share on other sites
bentruyman
Try installing OSX 10.4.4/5 on a regular PATA drive. Then update it to 10.4.6 via the update on Pirate Bay and your SATA drives will be visible and usable. As for installing the OS on them, theres a lot of support problems right now regarding SATA. /es
just wondering, are you installing this on a laptop? if you are, you might need a VGA dongle. peteb
no its desktop... and it runs perfectly if I disable the SATA drive and leave bios just with this usb ext drive enabled... I dont know why, is it possible to make a boot menu that could choose which system is going to run on totally seperate hard drives ? (not partitions)... btw. thx for your time guys Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/15104-sata-hard-drive-problem-in-1043/#findComment-99246 Share on other sites
