Mike3mike3mike3
Hi all. I hope you all don't hate me. I'm a newb. I know. It is not cool to be a noob. Can anyone help out? I have this laptop and want to put LEO on it, but can't figure it out. I know other have done it, but I can't figure out how. Can anyone reccomend a version to use and give a few simple lines of instructions on how to install? I was able to get Leo on there a few months ago but it really didnt work well and I had to reinstall XP so my family could use the PC. I have it back now. I'm thinking !Atkos v4a will work on it becaue that is what I used the last time. Can anyone tell me which drivers to install during the install? Is there a distro that is newer/ better that Atkos? What di I do after I have the OS installed? CAn I use the 321 bootdisk with an official LEO? Anything that I will understand is really what I'm looking for. It is a solid laptop and runs great with XP. I want to continue using it, but I ned a Mac laptop for work and can afford to buy one. Help Please. The specs on my laptop are below. I took them from the Gateway website. Thank you in advance. Mike3mike3mike3
OK, last night I was able to get !Atkos v4a on the laptop. The only driver I checked off before the install was the ToH. Not sure why but that helped it install. After the install it was a total different story. It ran so slow. I really could nt do much with it. Not sure if this was because the chipset isnt supported or what. I am looking at IPC. Their website say it has support for the southbridge so maybe it will work better with that distro. It should be finished down loading by the time I get home. Wish me luck with it. Im not sure if it has support for the northbridge or the video chip. I really dont want to get rid of this laptop. I hope to make it work. Can anyone help? There has been a few posts of this chipset but I can't seem to find a solution to the problem yet. Wish me luck with iPC! marliwahoo
Go here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=89659 Always, when requesting help, post your equipment. What brand/model ? No one will post anything without that. Better yet google this: (no quotations) "your laptop brand model" site:forum.insanelymac.com Good luck.
