I am a bit perplexed – as to why I can't get 10.5.2 Vanilla on my rig.

Here are my chronicles – system information in my sig below.

I am able to install Kalyway 10.5.2 Sleepkernel and it will boot with no problem.

If I try to install Vanilla Kernel – the system will quickly reboot. I *am* able to use it IF I boot from the Kalyway DVD, press F8 and then use the RD=disk0s2 command. So is it something in the EFI partition? Or is it something in my BIOS?

When I boot from my HD and am using Vanilla – I have also used the toggles –f –v. Everything flies by very quickly – but I have gotten pretty good at using the pause key to see what is going on before it reboots. The last few lines I see before the reboot are:

Loading HFS+ file: [/system/Library/Extentions/TMSafetyNet.kext/Contents/MacOS/TMSafetyNet] from 4234670

Loading HFS+ file: [/system/Library/Extentions/TMSafetyNet.kext/Contents/MacOS/TMSafetyNet] from 4234670

(yes the above line is repeated twice – and are identical)

Loading HFS+ file:[DSDT.aml] from 4234670

Starting Darwin/x86

(then the screen goes black and the system reboots)

I have searched these forums and have tried changing many bios settings – but I haven't found a clear post on what should be set which way. I have also tried downgrading my bios to a much earlier version (1101) as I found that in a post. But none of these have worked.

I have also tried a 123Boot CD and a retail Leopard 10.5 DVD. When I insert the retail DVD, I get the Grey Screen with the Apple on it – and it just sits there (I don't even get the spinning gear) and there is no drive activity (no flashing lights).

I have also tried iDeneb V1.3 10.5.5 install DVD – and I get the same constant reboot results.

Because of so many different install methods, I tend to believe it has to be a BIOS setting – but at this point I think I am getting as far as trying to pick a bank vault with two left hands :thumbsup_anim:

So – does anyone else out there have knowledge on the ASUS P5B Deluxe, BIOS settings, and running Vanilla 10.5.2 or greater? Eventually I would like to get to 10.5.6 - but I think I can get to that point pretty easily (famous last words) once I get Vanilla working.

My assumption is that if I start off with 10.5.2 Kalyway Sleepkernel - and then go through the upgrading process - I will still have some sort of munged kernel and am not really at 10.5.6 and thus may have things that don't work.

Any ideas or thoughts are much appreciated.
