postmortymn Posted January 31, 2009 Share Posted January 31, 2009 Mobo: Asus M2A-VM Chipset: VIA SB600 / ATi 690g Proc: AMD 5000+ X2 Dist: LEO4ALL V3 RAM: 8gb DDR2 PC6400 2X4 HDD: SATA 80gb DVD: SATA Pioneer DVD DL Writer DVR-212 1. edit your bios: a. switch SATA controller to AHCI b. configure boot order if needed c. disable USB Legacy d. save and reboot 2. boot into LEO4ALL DVD 3. select from top: Utilities > Disk Utility a. select hard drive b. name and partition hdd c. in Options, select GUID Partition Table. This solves the " BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER " d. close Disk Utilities and continue installation 4. on Install screen, select Customize a. select Third Party Drivers > VIA SiS Marvell and SB chipset driver b. select Audio Drivers > ALC883 c. select SMBIOS > SMBIOS 800 5. skip disk checking if you have faith in your disk 6. wait.............. 7. fill out everything you feel comfortable with 8. disable updates? i updated itunes and quicktime. Overview: Audio works, but not shown in profiler. Video works, but, no QE is reported. so, i cant play dvds or install toast. Number lock does not work on my PS2 keyboard, and, i dont care. mayhaps an apple keyboard? overall, it feels faster than my macbook pro. of course, 8gb vs 4gb ram... i will research a formidable video card and update my findings. any suggestions for graphics are much welcomed as long as you include proof and instructions/files needed. hope this helps. Defaulted to headphones, change it to line out and all is well. Video works, but, only shows 256MB. Ran EFI studio and got 512MB working Tried 8GB RAM but the machine went to blue screen. Its showing 32-bit and i havent the patience at the moment to change it. It works.. leave it alone for now Downloaded kext for the ethernet and it works great. Added 500GB hard drive, detected and formatted it. hope this helps. FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS ON THE IPC DVD!!! voodoo 9.5 kernel MUST HAVE seatbelt. you must eject dvd/cds with the on-screen eject button. the drive eject will not work.
