aysbg
First of all, since this is my very first post on this forum, I'm gonna say hi Second, although I have Macbook for some time now, I found this forum and everything related to running OS X on PC configuration just couple weeks ago... I first download vmware img and tried Tiger after couple days of thinking about it, I went to the comp store, bought me additional hdd(wd 250GB) and downloaded iATKOS v5 and Kalyway 10.5.2 and burned 'em both on dvds... So... I started reading and reading and reading... then printing and printing of all those great install guides/tutorials, tips, tricks and everything else I found on this forum and on the pages of wiki... so, even though I doubt that those who wrote those guides and tutorials I read, will see this - THANK YOU VERY MUCH! Then, I've tried with kalyway and installation didn't go how I expected nor how I planned it to go... I was stuck at boot loading and after 5th attempt I simply gave up on it... iATKOS turn... first attempt, normal, regular boot, disk utility, setting up partion(since I had prepared complete hdd for, it wasn't very difficult), then the selection of the drivers, kernels and all other pre-install stuff was also quite easy and smooth... after 15-20minutes of installation, first boot and voila, everything looks promising. Except for the resolution... so... I simply went to the System Preferances, Display... and have chosen bigger and puff I found myself looking at the blue screen(quite similar to the one, which apple named "blue screen of death")... reboot, -x at boot prompt, a bit of googling and... I found drivers that I needed. Sound wasn't working in the beginning and since yesterday it simply started working by itself... I have no clue how or why and I really dont care and dont wanna know(I'm gonna stick to old linux expression "if it ain't ..."). I tried cs4 PS and DW(the same I have on mac) on my hackintosh and compared the usability with my macbook pro... I just want to say, I saw on several and maybe more threads, where people, mostly those with hell of a lot posts, sometimes even moderators stating that "if you are looking to get yourself cheap mac with osx86, that you gonna be disappointed", my PC wasnt cheap, but comparing to mac, it was third of the price. And for 1/3 of money, I got 3-5 times better Mac. Alright... maybe that's just me and my simple luck with the installation process(mind you that I spent more then 3 days just preparing myself, reading and learning about OSX86), but there's nothing wrong with wanting to have cheaper Mac, cause... after seeing this(even though I felt the same way before), Macs were/are overpriced, dont get me wrong, they are NOT overrated, but overpriced? hell yeah! The point is... we all(well, most) have installed at least once in our life an cracked/hacked/pirated version of some software... I know I have. But... after these 3-4 days of using osx86 on my pc and the really, awesome experience I had and have... I'm going to buy leopard or license(not really sure how it works in my country, but heh... will find out on monday), just because if everything continue to go well(and after seeing the boot132 thing) with the osx86, I see no reason in keeping my macbook. Best Regards and best of luck to those that are about to enter the Mac OS X or Mac OSX86 world!
