tsx09
Hello Info: installed Kalyway 10.5.2 dual booting with XP (on the same drive) 1 week ago. It was working perfectly for a few days. The only change I made since then is that I installed Firefox in Leopard. Edit: to give more detail, my computer is a Dell Dimension 3000 with P4 3GHZ HT (SSE3) with 512 MB DDR and an 80GB Maxtor HD, all stock. I turned on my computer 2 days ago, selected OSX86 from the startup choices, and it shut down my computer immediately and without warning. I turned it on twice more and on the third try it booted into Leopard. Shut it down by going to Apple menu --> Shut down. Today I tried to boot into Leopard twice but no luck. XP is working fine. I read somewhere that 10.5.2 has a feature where if it detects a problem with the HD that it can't fix, it shuts down the computer immediately. Any way I can fix it? tsx09
Thanks for your reply. I'll try that and report back. Is there any specific procedure to "repairing the permissions?" I know how to find disk utility and I used it during the install but other than that am not really familiar with it. tsx09
I did as you said. Repaired permissions and I also clicked "Verify disk" and was told everything is OK. Rebooted into OSX and was successful on the first try. I'll report back tomorrow to see if it boots on the first try, after the computer has had some time to rest. Thanks again for your help benmcl. tsx09
It worked. I installed a Microsoft mouse driver that started giving me kernel panics, but I booted with -legacy, uninstalled, repaired permissions, and now everything is working. Just so anyone in the future having this problem can use the same technique.
