Benny53
Ok, so I burnt the Kalyway 10.5.2 dvd to an image and installed it. I have windows vista on a 1TB hard drive ( samsung ), and then installed Leopard on my 500GB western digital hard drive. My 500GB hdd is installed into the 1st SATA slot on my mobo whilst the 1TB hdd is installed to the second slot. Now, Kalyway installed successfully and everything,b ut when I try to boot from it, it gives something like "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause." Then says "File: \boot0.gpt" or "File: \chain0". It says it for any of the files available. Now, I almost would believe it has to do with when I flagged the disk in the installation, but I don't know. I did: fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 1 quit reboot Would I have to go back in and change that to "fdisk -e /dev/rdisk1" and so on? If not, what could be the cause of this problem? Btw, my hard ware is as follows: 1TB Samsung HDD 500GB Western Digital HDD Intel p975x Motherboard Intel Core 2 Quad q6600 @ stock settings Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX 512mb 6GB DDR2 RAM I changed the thing in startup with "fdisk -e /dev/rdisk1" and flag 1 of course but then it gave me this error "b0 error". That's all it said, nothing else. Any ideas? Any input would be appreciated as I feel I'm not too far off. Benny53
Ok, got it working. I was setting the mac boot thing like "bcdedit /set {GUID} PATH \boot0.gpt", but I changed it to "bcdedit /set {GUID} PATH \chain0" and it worked great. Now I just gotta get all the drivers I need. Benny53
Didn't really research it too much. iATKOS failed beyond belief for me so I read that Kalyway was a bit easier to install. I'll download iDeneb v1.3 and install that. Btw, whilst I have a topic, does anyone know how I can get drivers for these pieces of hardware or get them working: Nvidia GeForce 9800GTX ( OSX only lets me choose one resolution 1024x1280 I believe, and I have a widescreen monitor so it looks weird ). Linksys WUSB54GC Wireless network adapter Any help on this would be appreciated ^^ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/149898-problem-booting-leopard/#findComment-1060328 Share on other sites
Benny53
Ok, I tried installing iATKOS 5i and it installed correctly. Only problem is it can't find the chain0 file now. And I've tried both hard drives as the active partition ( rdisk0 and rdisk1 ). Only one partition on each so I can't really set anything besides partition 1. What am I doing wrong here? My western digital hard drive ( where mac osx is installed ) is hard drive 0 ( rdisk0 ) and my samsung 1tb hdd is hard drive 1 ( rdisk1 ). I've tried both like: fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 flag 1 quit reboot and: fdisk -e /dev/rdisk1 flag 1 quit reboot Neither of those make the file findable. I also replaced the file with one straight from the iATKOS 5i ISO and so it's not corrupted. So any ideas as to why it can't find chain0? The installation was successful btw. So I doubt that's the problem. My hard drive lable is "D:/" for where vista is installed. But again, I don't think that'd be the problem. Any ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated ^^ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/149898-problem-booting-leopard/#findComment-1061584 Share on other sites
Benny53
Terribly sorry for all the posts. Just really desire some help right now ^^ Ok, so I got past the chain0 {censored}, I am just selecting what hard drive to boot off of in my bios since I guess no one had encountered what I had. Not a big deal, it works. So, I installed iAtkos. That's all good, but when I go to boot into it it gives me a "computer must be restarted" error or something. What's the usual cause for this error? Any help would be appreciated! Edit - Ok, I started the iATKOS installation with -v, and I got a bunch of errors saying "Package 0 didn't get an HPET". Then it goes into a kernal panic saying the cpu wasn't set up correctly IntelCPUPowermanager or something similar. Anyone know why it would do this? Any way to get around all this when installing?
