bioqi
Hi, I just found out that I can´t use my graphic card in this mobo because osx86 does not work with PCIe 4x (only 16x). Therefore, I don´t know what to do, whether get a new graphic card (working in AGP) or change the mobo to one working with full PCIe 16x. I know there are some issues with my mobo (has a VIA bridge), like not accepting Vanilla Kernel, problems with SATA (so far I use IDE though), and that encourages me to change it. But on the other hand, with a new AGP8x it should work (I´ve read so), and I´m a bit scare of having problems with the new mobo... What do you recommend me? and which graphcard/mobo specifically? (not expensive please! ) Thanks all!! Greets. If you want more than stereo out go for board with alc888 not 662 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/149826-should-i-change-my-graphcard-or-my-motherboard/#findComment-1059777 Share on other sites

I know there is a list with compatible hardware, the problem is that my mobo for example is not said not to work with PCIe@4x, that´s something which should be stated there, and I´m a bit afraid of choosing one looking nice and afterwards... ForestGuardian
You should be perfectly fine building an OSx86 system with most ICH7/8/9/10? (that last one is iffy from what I've read) -based motherboards. You may also need a SATA DVD drive, as opposed to IDE. The HCL is your friend. There's no need to restrict yourself you Gigabyte motherboards. A lot of models in the Asus line work quite well. It's just personal preference. Personal preference and experience, although I've had success with other brands, not as easily or as successful as gigabyte boards Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/149826-should-i-change-my-graphcard-or-my-motherboard/#findComment-1061346 Share on other sites
