jonesyp Posted January 27, 2009 Share Posted January 27, 2009 Ok this is my first time attempting to install iPC OSx86, PPF5 So i will start with my System Specs CPU : Intel E2160 MEM : 2GB DDR2 667mhz HDD : 250gb Seagate SATA MB : Intel 945GM Video : Intel GMA950 Audio : ALC662 SATA : ICH7 USB Mouse + KB (Case: Shuttle K45) Now i have created a 40GB partition and been able to start the install. Formatted it HFS+ Journaled partition, I selected the following in the options section Select Kernels> 9.5.0 Voodoo Kernel Select Drivers> Audio Drivers> ALC662 Fixes and Patches> AppleSMBIOS Patch> AppleSMBIOSEFI Now i begin the install, after 30 minutes the following Error appears "The following install step failed: run preinstall script for AppleSMBIOSEFI." AidanLinz Posted January 27, 2009 Share Posted January 27, 2009 I'll go out on a limb and guess that you've got a MBR partition table, not a GUID partition table, and that smbios patch is for EFI systems. If the drive's empty, repartition it and be sure to click on "options" in disk utility under the partition map an select GUID. If it's not empty, well you'll have to leave the EFI toys be. jonesyp Posted January 27, 2009 Author Share Posted January 27, 2009 My Ultimate goal was to triple boot, windows, OSX and linux i was following guidelines from here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=102068 and i choose the MBR partitioning scheme Which options should i be selecting? Thanks in advance Jonesyp Hey, I'm getting a similar error when installing iPC 10.5.6 on my desktop (XFX nForce 750i, E8500 C2D, 6 GB DDR2_800, and GeForce 9800 GT), except that its with the 930SleepKernel but the same preinstall script stuff. It does this regardless of whether or not I actually select the SleepKernel during the Customize section. BTW, I've been selecting all other kernels except Sleep, just for the record.
