Just in case anybody is interested in setting up a Dell Vostro 200:

Kalyway boots perfectly, but (as stated in OSx86 Wiki) the on board video card does not seem to be supported. So you will need a supported video card. Sound seems to work just as well without specific drivers, but you can find sound card drivers online.

Cool Stuff: Dell states that this machine only supports 4 x 1GB Dimms, but it really does support 4 x 2GB Dimms. I just tried it and it shows up as 8GB both in BIOS and in "About this Mac." My benchmarks on Xbench improved quite a bit too.

I know that a few weeks ago some of this information would have been helpful to me. I had trouble getting Kalyway to boot up, but after I burned the disc in Vista at 1x it worked fine (could not get my MacBook to burn a bootable disc no matter what I tried). If you need to know anything about a Dell Vostro 200 Hackintosh setup ONLY, please feel free to PM me and I will do my best to reply. It's a very stable setup with good results at a low price.

My Setup:

Diamond HD3650 1024MB Graphics Card

8GB (4x2GB) 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM

Western Digital 500GB SATA Drive

Generic Firewire Card

Generic NIC

Generic Bluetooth Dongle

Everything works well so far from what I can see.

Did you get the onboard audio to work too?

if so what kext's did you use as i cant get any kind of audio output on my vostro 200.

I installed a realtek gigabit lan controller and that wrked fine, my Geforce 9500GT 1GB

works fine too with the 10.5.7 update.
