anybigidea
Hi all... i've got a copy of iDeneb Leopard 10.5.5 Actually on my pc there's one 500gb hardisk with 2 partitions: C: (200gb) for winxp and D: (300gb) for data. When i decided to install Leo i moved all my data (about 25gb) in C: and then i deleted the D: partition (now xp recognize it as "free space"). I boot from the DVD and all the check process goes ok until it ask me on wich partition i want to install Leopard. The left column list is EMPTY... it didn't see any hard drive!!! How can i solve this?! Thanks m Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/149106-ideneb-1055-dont-show-the-partition-in-the-installation-process/ Share on other sites

ForestGuardian
That's very strange. Normally, there would be at least a hard drive, even if grayed out (meaning unmounted). If there are none visible: • Tou have to enable AHCI mode for SATA controll under BIOS (if that doesn't work, or it already is in AHCI, try IDE) • If the first solution doesn't work, set SATA mode for Compatible, rather than Enhanced (if available in your BIOS) Is your hard drive connected via SATA or IDE? If it's on a SATA connection, is it to a PCI / PCIe SATA card? (Most PC SATA/RAID cards are incompatible with Leopard, or at least need custom kexts). Once you have your drive visible in Disk Utility, you'll need to format your target partition. Speaking of which.... Do you mean no drives are visible to the INSTALLER? If this is the case, you will have to go to the Utilities menu, select Disk Utility, and format the partition you want using Mac OS Extended (Journalled). BTW. Sometimes, "Free Space" allocated via Windows Storage Management is never visible to Disk Utility, no matter what you do. You will have to go back into Windows and reformat that partition with FAT32. Then just reformat it a second time with Disk Utility once you've booted from the DVD. Good luck! Marcus Aurelius
format the empty space to ntfs or fat, mac has a hard time "seeing" empty space. dunno why. when formatted to ntfs iDeneb will detect it and you can format it to mac osx journaled. good luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/149106-ideneb-1055-dont-show-the-partition-in-the-installation-process/#findComment-1205174 Share on other sites
