BartNijland
Okay this has been bothering me for some while now, and I really hope someone has an explanation for this. I have a AMD 6000+, 8800GT and 4GB of Memory. Now I've tried different, kernels (currently on VooDoo v1.0), different video drivers (EFI-strings/NVInject) and some tweaks but I still don't get it. Quake 4 and Doom 3 are universal binaries that have been released for OSX. Now Quake 4 run's great, on the highest settings and it runs really fast and smooth. Doom 3 on the other hell is slow (< 5 fps) even at 640x800 on the lowest settings with everything special turned off. I tried everything so I guess it's not software but hardware. Is this some kind of known issue for AMD's? Could someone test this out (Doom 3 Demo) on there AMD osx86's? BTW: Same deal with UT2004. Run's really, really slow while a game like Warcraft 3 run's great. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148744-quake-4-and-doom-3/ Share on other sites
cyclonefr
Doom 3 DEMO is PowerPC and runs through Rosetta, that's why... Only the final version is UB with a patch you need. Same for UT2004 Demo Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148744-quake-4-and-doom-3/#findComment-1053028 Share on other sites
