Hello. This is my first post on these forums!

Anyways, I've got myself an ATI Radeon 9200 card, Both QE and CI are not supported, as I'm sure you all know...

So i suppose my question is, on a basic functional level, will OSx86 work with a 9200?

The second question is, if it does in fact work, what functionality and what differences from a native mac machine can i expect without QE and CI support? Would it be worth it to attempt to install this as more than a hobby OS?

Thanks!

Hi,

CI is not supported (hardware), so that means no cool effects like ripples is dashboard.

QE does not work on your card (yet) because of the drivers, so that means no cool cube effects aso

OpenGL might work, look at the thread with radeon7500 from drivers section - i managed to get opengl working, so the GL screensavers work smooth, movies work nice in full-screen mode, applications like Keynote and Pages also work, Chess.app a.s.o.

Maybe in the future QE will work also.

Anyway, VESA drivers gives you everything you need for a basic user. You may need OpenGL, CI, QE for the cool effects and movies, and some applications that specifically require it. It worth to try it out, you'll be surprised :D

Good luck :)
