kplain
I have the P5Q and it works ok for me. I had to fix the sound and I have 4 MB Memory so no IDE. I have ten drives connected through sata or external USB and firewire, so storage works fine. There are some quirks, it's not easy but you should be able to get a working system and have it act just like a real Mac for the most part. ForestGuardian
• motherboard choice is fine • make sure your optical drive is SATA • I'm not 100% sure on the 9800GT, but I'm sure you can get it working with EFIv9 GFX strings and a vanilla installation • speaking of which... add a Leopard retail DVD to your list. With so many horror stories from custom ISO's going around, you'll be glad you did. • I recommend that you don't get OCZ RAM chips greater than 1GB. I had serious troubles with my Asus P5 board and 2GB chips. Though, the ones I got were 1066MHz. Check the build list in my signature and the installation notes for more details. However, if the store where you purchase them has a flexible return policy, go ahead and test them out. Good luck!
