Spasm
Greetings all, I just updated my Kalyway installation from 10.5.3 to 10.5.5. I never had any problems with system profiler before, but now I'm not sure that it's reading my hardware correctly anymore. I updated using Mysticus C's method, with the pre-patch, combo update, and post-patch... The only thing that went weird was I didn't see the "customize" option in the post-patch (which I believe is where I am supposed to change settings specific to my hardware?) That said, I'm guessing something's gone wrong with the way the OS is seeing my hardware, and I've searched the forum and found a few threads discussing "appleSMBIOS.kext", and I've tried a few of them, like "appleSMBIOSResolver.kext" (installing them with Kext Helper), but I only went from seeing "error while gathering information" in system profiler, to having it display incorrect information, such as wrong model (shows Macbookpro, but I'm not on a laptop) and wrong processor speed (shows 3.8 GHz when I'm only at 2.4 GHz). I've tried searching for something called "appleSMBIOSEnabler.kext" which supposedly lets you forget about the appleSMBIOS all together, but can't seem to find it... Any suggestions on getting System Profiler to read hardware correctly? Thanks in advance! ...and in case it helps, I've got: Asus P5B Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 @ 2.4 GHz 4GB OCZ Platinum r2 DDR2 800 MHz ATI All-in-Wonder X1900 ...and I think that's all that matters...oh, and using vanilla kernel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/148168-how-to-get-system-profiler-to-see-correct-hardware/ Share on other sites
