Mugatu
from Tips and Tricks - OSx86: Improve iTunes skipping on SSE2 machines For most of us, using the Rosetta'd version of iTunes gives us a lot of skipping. You can lessen the pain by turning off the "Sound Enhancer" and "Crossfade Playback" options in your preferences. You can also turn off the E.Q. for a bit more improvement. The effects of this trick are hit or miss. My desktop is now totally skip-free, but a few others I've tried this trick on didn't change at all. Take it for what it's worth and give it a shot. The best place to obtain the maxxuss patch is the Maxxuss Homepage. Fortunately, Apple is now shipping iTunes 6.0.4 Universal, which solves the problem okay, my processor is SSE2 and i installed 10.4.1 and i could play my music just fine. now i put 10.4.3 on my computer, and anything i play in iTunes skips. same goes for Quicktime. what gives? i turned off the sound enhancer, crossfade playback, equalizer, and installed iTunes 6.0.4. no difference. is it just because the code for 10.4.3 is so SSE3 intensive? any suggestions for a solution? should i just go back to 10.4.1? other than that, 10.4.3 seems to work just fine. i installed all of the applicable SSE3 patches, removed the AppleTPM and FPMem kexts, etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14797-music-skips-while-playing-in-itunes/ Share on other sites
