I know every system is differnt and requires different methods/tinkering but is the the general procedure? I have been reading a lot on the forums while waiting for the OS X DVD. From what I have gathered...this is what I do...

First, I have XP Pro SP2 on C: and a 80GB H: drive that I want to install OS X on. I am getting "Mac OS X 10.4.4/5 osx86 Patched Bootable DVD" right now.

I am fairly comfortable with the instructions to install OS X on the H: drive.

1. I format the H: drive using diskpart and use "create partition primary id=af"

2. Boot from DVD

3. Use disk utility to erase partition and continue to install OS X

Seems simple enough so far...did I miss anything?

Do the harddrives have to be sucessive letters? C & D?

I see some people say the chain0 doesn't work because of versions...will it work on this version?

4. restart and boot with the dvd again, using startup disk utilities, boot into XP

5. set c: as an active partition

6. Copy chain0 from the DVD to c:

7. edit the boot.ini file

That's it?

I see a lot of talk about patches, dd.exe, and bunch of others....I take it I don't really need any of them or do I?

Also I see some people saying when they upgraded to 10.4.5 they had problems and had to fix a kernel or something. What is this about?

Thanks for you time...this forum and site really have helped a lot.
