Diamonds3999
Hey, So I'm a student at UNC Chapel Hill and we got Lenovo Thinkpad T61ps as part of a program at the school. I've been having a lot of trouble lately with my installation of Vista Enterprise and a friend of mine noted that he's had greater stability with OSx86 than Vista on his Dell. So I decided I was going ot check it out. I'm running on a T8300 @2.4GHz, 3 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA Quadro FX 570M. I'm fed up with having to fix every little error I get on my Vista installation (which would undoubtably return with a new installation - as always), and want to change over. But I'm being completely honest, I'm a mac fan, but never a user and have limited knowledge of the software. Are there going to be a lot of issues with the installation and will someone of limited mac knowledge be able to fix them? And will it be stable? As a student, I don't have a lot of time to be fixing little problems all the time - which is why I want to change over in the first place. Thanks in advace, Adam Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/147574-mac-osx86-on-lenovo-thinkpad-t61p-worth-it/ Share on other sites
majorcrabs
Well if you like the os then give it a shot only you can really tell what you like or dont like, and if osx isnt working you can either run boot camp and boot windows or just reformat and install windows again but if you dont like the hassel windows 7 beta is running very well although some things dont work yet (programs) but that isnt all that bad Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/147574-mac-osx86-on-lenovo-thinkpad-t61p-worth-it/#findComment-1045275 Share on other sites
Diamonds3999
Fair enough. I don't really have much time to give it a go and experiment with it. I need to get it running ASAP so I can carry on with my school work. I guess my largest concern is whether or not I'll get my video/audio/wlan to work properly. I'm not reading very good things for the T61p, especially for video, and considering I do 3D rendering, that may be a very large problem. I don't see any easy solutions from all my research, and if there is that I haven't run across, I don't know if I'll be capable of doing it. I would prefer OSx86 as I'm not extremely interested in Windows 7. The only thing I have going for me on this is that all of the posts I ran across about video not working, etc. is from almost a year ago. If anybody has a ray of hope for me, please let me know.
