badsubby
Hi, I downloaded a kext file for Intel 82566MM and used the the kext helper to install it because i read that it works but it didnt work. In the system preferences>network , it says that the firewire is not connected. Is firewire the same as ethernet? Btw, I'm connected through a linksys router. Everything works just fine except the audio. Please help me out. Thanks. MY PC SPECS: Dell xps 420 intel 82566dc-2 network card I'm not sure if this will work, but find your PCI Dev ID (Vendor ID will probably be 8086 as it's Intel) using windows, I'm sure you can figure it out from the screen shot below. Mine is from a Dell Optiplex 755, and is a 82566DM-2 , with a device ID of 10BD See if the plist inside the 82566MM kext has your device ID in it (mine was). The file I have has these listed 0x105E8086 0x105F8086 0x10608086 0x10D98086 0x10DA8086 0x10A48086 0x10D58086 0x10A58086 0x10BC8086 0x107D8086 0x107E8086 0x107F8086 0x10B98086 0x108B8086 0x108C8086 0x109A8086 0x10D38086 0x10968086 0x10988086 0x10BA8086 0x10BB8086 0x10498086 0x104A8086 0x104B8086 0x104C8086 0x10C48086 0x10C58086 0x104D8086 0x10BF8086 0x10F58086 0x10CB8086 [** Mine] 0x10BD8086 [**] 0x10E58086 0x294C8086 0x10C08086 0x10C38086 0x10C28086 0x10CC8086 0x10CD8086 0x10CE8086 0x10DE8086 0x10DF8086 If you use plist edit pro, it's under IOKitPersonalities > Intel82566MM > IOPCIPrimaryMatch Take one out, and add yours, or just add yours in the format it's in (inside the <string>devid's</string>) on the bottom window of plist edit pro. Save, install kext again with kext helper. Do not edit the kext from extensions that are already installed. Can someone please tell me which options was that russian screenshot taken from? Because I dont think I'm doing it right. Btw, I'm only supposed to use the kext helper right? badsubby
Hey guys, I got it all figured out. Kexthelper doesnt work in my opinion. OSX86 tools did the job for me. I used the same drivers as I mentioned above. CASE CLOSED !!! retromacg3
Cool, was thinking it might have something to do with permissions, maybe that was the difference.
