mjtanton
I finally got it working on an HP Pavilion a6620f PC. If you have an HP with 2.5 GHz and the card reader up front, you probably have the same thing. So, to start off, you will need to flash the Bios. This isn't as scary as you might think. Bash. did it here with an excellent guide (the motherboards are the same). In the bios, under advanced set it to AHCI mode if it isn't already (not RAID or IDE). I used iDeneb 10.5.5, which I recommend because I tried Kalyway, Leo4all, JaS, and others. None of them worked. Install iDeneb, it should boot fine. Do not choose any extra options other than for audio: ACL888. Now, insert an Ubuntu live cd or something like it. You need to mount the hard drive that contains the new installation. Navigate to /System/Library/Extensions. Remove AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext. Now boot into the chameleon bootloader for iDeneb off the hard drive. Press F8 for advanced options. Boot in safe mode ( -x ). Now everything should boot fine. Start the Disk Utility (type utility in spotlight). Repair the permissions on the disk. Update from Apple, reboot. There you go!
