Thought I'd jot down a few notes that may help someone out there.

I had an iDeneb 10.5.5 install running fine on my x86 hardware and then decided I needed to go back and install X11. I used the iDeneb boot DVD, and selected just the X11 package. After the install completed, the machine went into the 'endless restart loop', the bootloader is displayed and the machine almost immediately restarts after it begins booting into the OS. I encountered this on the inital install, it's a kernel issue (at least with my machine). I booted off the install DVD again and selected to install just the kernel (9.4.0 StageXNU I believe).

After the install completed, the machine no longer looped rebooting but stopped at a kernel panic where the acutal useful message was buried behind the 'You must hold the power button, bla bla' window. I was able to piece together that it was the com.apple.appleintelcpupowermanagement.kext package (you will see 'com.apple.appleinte' on your kernel panic screen, it's cut off). Following the instructions in this post:

meant deleting the package itself :

 rm -rf /Volumes/YourOSXDrive/System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext

My iDeneb install is now working again and I didn't lose any data.

Hope it helps someone keep a few more hairs on their heads. Cheers.
