seaker
Hey I have a Toshiba M200 notebook. I've tried alot of options but during install I get the Still waiting for root device message. Can I just get around all that by installing on a different computer and copying the entire hard drive. Or could I put the hard drive in another computer, start the install, then put the hard drive back in the laptop? Any help would be much appreciated, thanks! Beerkex'd
Yes, it's possible. The topmost machine in my signature is running a clone of the install that was installed and running on the one at the bottom. Of course it was only half working at first but I was able to boot in safe mode and start working on it from there. If you're going to attempt this, you should do it on as similar hardware as possible - a portable computer with the same motherboard chipset, or chipset in the same family - for the best results. But the easiest way would be to install OSX86 on an external hard drive connected via USB. Also, here's your search. See what others did. http://######.com/osx86search/resul...FORID%3A11#1145 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/146776-circumvent-still-waiting-for-root-device-by-copying-the-whole-partition/#findComment-1040343 Share on other sites
seaker
Thanks for your time. I will try an external hard drive via USB next. I know it's possible to do it on this hardware, I've just been having trouble finding out which distro people used, any special settings, etc. as it is a little obscure. Thanks again!
