Hi guys,

i'm totally new to this kind of forum and topics, so please forgive me for any mistakes.

after reading around on here i decided to try to install tiger on an old pc.

my pc configuration is (acer aspire 1620)

CPU: Intel P4 2.80GHz (SSE2)

Mem: 512MB

Video: ATI 9700

i downloaded -Kalyway 10.4.10 (IntelSSE3 + V1.1_AMD&SSE2_Patch+fixes)

injected the SSE2 patch into the iso file usin PPF O MATIC

burned the iso using Alcohol 120%

the pc boots from the DVD, i press f8 and write "-x -v"

after few seconds it stops printing the message

"still waiting for root device"

what kind of problem could it be? a Kalyway or hardware problem?

any advice??

thanks,

Vitto

Your notebook has the problematic ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 IGP chipset. While you are trying to install it misplaces the secondary IDE channel and never finds it again.

If your laptop supports USB boot you can try a USB DVD drive to do your install, but to OSx your secondary IDE channel is dead, and will remain so.

any advice??

Leave it running windoze.

thanks for your reply.

i booted anothe pc (toshiba satellite) with mostly same hardware of the acer, CPU centrino, Ati 9700, 512 Ram and the installation begins..so i was thinking the problemwas different.

by the way i'll install ubunt if i have no chance with tiger.
