Sorry about posting the same thing twice. I had no responses and this is a pretty fast moving forum.

Hi I am trying to install Leopard on a Toshiba Tecra S1 and it takes a few hours to get to the screen where you select the drive you want to install it then it hangs (I even let it go overnight to make sure it was not another long delay). This was with Kaleway 10.5.2. I have tried others but this is the closest to working I have gotten. I also tried other kernels (sleep and speedstep) and they did not work any better. I also tried "platform=x86pc" and it did not help. Safe mode did not help either. There were some really long delays (1 hour+) while loading but I could not find and diagnostics or error messages. I booted Knoppix to gather some info and it is as follows:

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. My assumption is that there is a problem with the driver for the chipset or ide controller but I don't know what to do.

Thanks,

Greg

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunatly there was nothing helpful there. I can even get OSX installed on the drive where I could a leats view the logs and trouble shoot. The system keeps hanging or freezing before I get it installed.

Is there anyway to have it write log files to a usb drive during installation? If I could figure out why it was freezing I could address it. At this point I am shooting in the dark.

Well I'm a little but red faced on this one. It turn out that the main problem was the dvd media. It picked up some fuji +R dvds and now have a new set of problems.

I tried Kalyway 10.5.1, iDeneb 1.3 and iPC 10.5.6. They all seem to freeze/hang right after the "MAC Framework successfully initialized" and "using 2621 buffer headers and 2621 cluster buffer IO headers" messages.
