kicken
Hi, I have successfully installed osx86 on my msi wind and other computers but this is the first time i have had some issues. First of all I understand osx86 doesn't support sata nforce bios raid which is fine. What i have setup so far is this motherboard with 2 250 gig sata drivers in bios raid with 64bit vista. (works good). But i decided i wanted to install Osx86, so i grabbed and IDE hard drive made sure its set as master for the ide channel and figured i could just pop the cd plug it in boot, and install. I assumed it would just ignore sata since it doesnt support sata raid and would detect the ide drive. But of course i recieve no love. and get the waiting for root device response. And it seems to happen everytime it comes to the sata portion of the drivers. So im wondering is there away to have it just ignore the sata drivers. or if anyone has had anyluck with this type of setup. Yes i could just take them out of raid but I really prefer just leaving those two drives in a raid array and using this extra ide drive just for osx86. Any thoughts, Ideas, or insights would be much appreciated. Thanks, Dave ps: i have tried to install with -v and -v -x still not much help. lotrfan
Hey Kicken, I have the same exact motherboard and I'm typing this from Leopard as I speak. I don't have a RAID array, but I do have a DVD drive hooked up via IDE and a 500GB SATA drive. I could boot into the installation fine, without any waiting for root device errors, but I had to go into the BIOS and change the SATA operation mode from IDE to AHCI in order for the install to detect the hard drive. Hopefully this helps! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/145860-installing-kalaway-1052-on-a-foxconn-m7pmx-s/#findComment-1047775 Share on other sites
