SLVR6
Trying to install the MaC.OsX.10.4.5.Universal.Install.DVD(INTEL-AMD-SSE3-SSE2).iso in a VMware server session on my AMD64 (Opteron 152) machine (SuSe 10 is the base OS). DVD boots, I can add the -v boot option, starts loading, then I seem to get a cyclic error: launched:server0 in bootstrap 1103 uid0:/usr/sbin/configd~[790]: exited abnormally: segmentation fault launched:server0 in bootstrap 1103 uid0:/usr/sbin/notifyd~[790]: exited abnormally: segmentation fault unknown SIGSEGV code 0 Those 3 lines seem to repeat (the number after configd and notifyd chenge). Does anyone have a thought on what I am doing wrong here? Any help is appreciated! i have also tried on IBM thinkpad T42 (WinXP) with VMware server and I get an error about running a "PAE enable" option in VMware. Thoughts? Again, thank you for any help that can be provided! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14582-help-with-vmware-server-installation/ Share on other sites
Micah N Gorrell
Well I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I'm getting: -sh-2.05b# unknown SIGSEGV code 0 launchd: Server 0 in bootstrap 1103 uid 0: "/usr/sbin/configd"[266]: exited abnormally: Segmentation fault repeated over and over again. I'm running vmware server on a debian amd64 build. I'm noticing a pattern here. Anyone have any ideas? rbaggio
I have the same problem, ie. getting the same errors you are describing. This is both during a native install, and also a VMWare workstation install. Anecdotal evidence would suggest that the iso is to blame .... In another thread, someone mentioned that one of the 10.4.5 iso's on TPB was corrupted and many were having similar problems. Other evidence would suggest that it is AMD-specific, and perhaps relates to something not being patched in the iso quite correctly. http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?showtopic=10237 I would love to try and get a different iso, however I don't have the download allowance (yet). Have to wait for the next billing period Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14582-help-with-vmware-server-installation/#findComment-95307 Share on other sites

Have to wait for the next billing period That is kind of what I was wondering also. i was able to use that *.iso to natively install on an IBM Thinkpad T40, someone else I know used it on an intel desktop also. I am having issues also with getting it to install on VMWare server on my Thinkpad T42, I think that is a VMWare issue though by the error (Something about a PAE process error). rbaggio
Update ... I obtained a different install image, and the installation went through fine, first go. Hint: TPB, "Mac OS X 10.4.4/5 osx86 Patched Bootable DVD" Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/14582-help-with-vmware-server-installation/#findComment-100321 Share on other sites
