I have searched and search and searched, but it seems NOBODY has any idea what's going on with the Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC. The wiki CLAIMS it works OUT OF THE BOX, but for most people it doesn't work. I can get the card to connect to the internet, but about 10 minutes in it just dissconnects all together and I must reboot to obtain 10 more glorious minutes of internet. Is there no solution for this card? If there isn't this card should be REMOVED from the wiki, or at least changed stating; It works for some people.

Thanks you /rant over

EDIT: cpus=1 is not a solution!

It works out of box.i use the same no breakage of internet.you don't have to worry about it.if you have problem it must something else.

Okay, I already said it worked Out of the box for some people. But those who's does not work out of the box are left in the dust to rot. Not everybody's RTL8139 works OOB.

Here I had problems with this card only after doing the update to 10.5.6. Before that used the same card since the days of Tiger successfully.

If you update to 10.5.6, try removing the AppleHPET.kext. Here I solve the problem well.

Thanks to Nemphys, who discovered the solution.
