Dear friends,

dear colleagues musicians,

 

In a few words: I am a composer and computerized music engraver working all the day mostly with Finale 2006-2009 Notation Software and Cubase 4.5.2 with East-West heavy library (138-230 GB) soft.

 

I just need a new PC. No dought, I can not get Hac with core i920.

 

Therefore Q9550 is my next step.

Please, suggest me or correct me if I am wrong in this assambling:

 

GA-EP45-DS3

C2 QUAD Q9550/2.83/1333/12/BOX

Video: here I do need your help at most:

ASUS EN8600GT MAGIC/HTP/512M or Q9400

(I do not fors the video card with games - just normal work, some mouvies etc.)

1000GB SEAGATE 7200/SATA2/32MB

300GB WD Velocity raptor 10.000 RPM

LG GH20NS DVD RW SATA

2+2GB DDR2 800 A-DATA or 2+2+2+2GB DDR2 800 A-DATA

My Sound card is ext. "Steinberg MI4" (RME inside) via USB

 

Please, inform me if the Leo support 8 GB DDR II or I should stay with 4 GB.

I'm not sure if you Know But your Build is almost the same Price as A Intel core I7 build the Q9550 cost more than the core i7 920 and as you i built a system for doing audio/video/photo work
Yes but remember you have to buy DDR3 RAM and a more expensive motherboard - so it's more expensive overall.

A core i7 system is only 200$ more than what he is going to spend and for get about getting a WD Raptor HardDrive most 1TB HardDrives with 32mb cache will out perform a 10,000 rpm hdd so remove that and you have money to get a core i7 system
