chagchag
Solved: Updated firmware on external drives. Hi. I recently installet iAtkos5 and upgraded with no problem to 10.5.6 However, I can not get my external ntfs-formatted drives to mount when connected via FireWire800, even though they are showing in disk utility, and they work just fine with both FW400 and USB2. HFS+ formatted drives work OK through firewire800. It is worth to mention that the drives I have tried are both RAID 0 Drives (WD Mybook Premium Edirion II, and a Lacie Bigdisk), the Mac-formatted drive was standard Lacie-drive. I've searched this forum, but the only thing I found on this specific problem was relatet to 10.5.2, and the solution (installing netkas AppleSMBIOS kext) did not work for me. (I lost the thread and can't find it again, hence the no link) Now, I had iAtkos2 (10.5.2) installed on this machine earlier, and it had the same problem. Then I did a clean install with iAtkos4 (10.5.4) and it DID WORK. However, with 10.5.5 and 10.5.6 it does not. Does anyone know what could be the problem here? Umm when i installed i used the iPC 10.5.6 disk and it did have an option on the disk to fix firewire mounting issues because 10.5.6 has mounting issues with dmg's usb and firewire so i think how you would fix it is to find the firewire and firewire mounting kexts from 10.5.5 and install them rather than the 10.5.6 kexts. truthfully, you shouldve stayed at 10.5.5 because there werent nearly as many problems. i just upgraded and my dvd drive doesnt work Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/145408-firewire-800-not-mounting-ntfs-formattet-drives/#findComment-1033132 Share on other sites
