In mac I want to work on movies, maybe 3d rendering, I think I won't play games. It more expensive processor and much cheaper motherboard, but q6600 15% more performance than 9550, but phenom II offer performance between core quad and i7, when I buy socket 755 platform I will never upgread it. When I will buy AMD I will. Im preaty sure that intel will never make six core processor for s755 from s604. pontifex22 Posted January 7, 2009 Share Posted January 7, 2009 The processor is fine (I got the same uses only 45 watt) it works perfect with the voodoo kernel The chipset of the board should also be ok, BUT: I dont know about the ATI Radeon 3300 I have not seen a driver for it might exist might not. I would get a nVidia graphic chip, almost all of these work. I got a 8600GT works perfect. Also might it be better to get MB and graphic seperate. What do you think what parts are the cheapest to have the best performance. Quad core is minimum.
